Hey, Cliff - people are going to start to talk if we keep on agreeing about stuff...

Let em' talk, Rob!

I have to say I was quite humbled this afternoon, the way this community rallied behind me, in spite of my recent behavior. Very much the way the inmates did in Cool Hand Luke when Paul Newman was faced with a huge plate of rice after getting out of the box...

Just gave this a listen for the first time, thanks for the heads up guys. This is definitely going to remain in my mind as one of the best (love the early versions so much!).

I can see why Bear picked it... the recording quality as well as the levels of all the instruments are excellent.

But... and I may be biased because I've listened to it quite a number of times... the 5-6-70 rendition is more explosive to my ears. Don't get me wrong, the Bear's Choice version has faster and tighter riffing than 5/6, but it does not feature a rippin' Tighten Up jam (one of my fav jams).

Anyway, thanks for the listen!

I think 4/12/70 and 5/2/70 are tied in my mind as the best Dancin's, with 5/6/70 not far behind.

Seems this jam-song had a peak period which passed rather quickly.... One of their early cover-tunes from '66, they dropped it in '68, and reintroduced it in June '69. It took a little while to become a fire-breathing jam-dragon, but it was already pretty much phased out by the end of 1970, until they "reinvented" it in '76....

By the way, if you're a fan of the Tighten Up jam, these are the Dancin's I've found that have it:
3-1-70
3-21-70
4-3-70
4-15-70
5-2-70
5-6-70
6-6-70
7-12-70
10-5-70 (released w/ 2-4-70 in Download Series)
10-24-70
10-30-70b
11-8-70
12-17-70

You'll pardon me for not linking to everything - but for a blast from the past (actually, the whole show is a blast), try this one -

3-18-67 is my favorite although i would be remiss not mention 2-26-77. I think I love the latter one only because of the way it comes out of Phil's bass solo at the end of Eyes.
